Joshua Tree National Park
I’m heading to Joshua Tree National Park tonight. Packed up the van and drove halfway tonight to Tehachapi for the night. Drove the rest of the way the next morning arrived at Joshua Tree around 11am. Entered the park and wow was this not what I expected. There were huge rock formations surrounded by Joshua trees. I explored a few areas before driving to my campsite in the Jumbo Rock campground. Setup camp and then drove to an area I wanted to try and get a Sunset with a Joshua Tree in the fore ground, and I did get to capture that image. I then returned to my campsite to enjoy the incredible night skies. There were so many stars it was overwhelming. the next couple of days I explored different location around the park. There are a lot of location where there are really incredible rock formations. There were so many place that would be great places to do night photography that made it hard to choose one. I decided that this was my first time to Joshua Tree(not my last) I decided to try some night photography from my campsite. I am new to Astro Photography so spent every night experimenting with techniques. This could become a addiction for sure. I learned a lot about Night Photography and Time Laps Photography and can’t wait to go back. If you are planning to go to Joshua Tree and do night photography don’t forget to check the moon schedule. There was a 3/4 moon when I was there so couldn’t see the Milky Way and the wrong time of the year.
